I’ve got mail! It’s a wooden hand from an art shop in Paris, a gift from my dad’s recent travels. I can only assume that my dad wants me to paint hands. But I can assure you, it was much more fun to contort the hand into various positions than actually paint it.
Scene 1, hand sits idly in my “studio” for several days, hoping the toddler doesn’t find and torture it.

Scene 2, adult finds and tortures hand.

Isn’t this the hand gesture for the now-extinct Indian Princesses? “How-how.” Help me out fellow princesses.
And much more fun to come, especially once that toddler gets hold of it.

The hand was hand delivered because you said that drawing hands was hard and you could not draw hands well so applying Rule Eleven of the basketball practice handbook, which generally says, practice what you do poorly, I wanted to give you a hand up, or maybe a hand out since I paid twice the price charged for a similar perhaps less well made hand in Gastonia. (the local hand would have been missing a knuckle or two off the ring finger ). I decided that after I am dead and gone, when you glance at the hand in the box on the floor of your art studio, there is some value in remembering that the hand came from a quaint, albeit somewhat overpriced Parisian art shop just off Rue St Michel carefully gift wrapped by the eighty year old shop owner and not from the half price bin at Aker Center Hobby Lobby. I love the work. Re the finger nails, work on the mere suggestion rather than actually drawing them. I especially like the four hands in different poses. You are right its all about the composition. Love Dad
