It’s been a cold, rainy Spring in Oslo, so there’s been plenty of time to pick up the brushes. The extended daylight hours are helpful for painting at night too. Let’s start with a commission of Akershus Fortress in downtown Oslo. This is a pretty big piece (14″ x 20″) and I was sweating bullets trying to make it right. But in the end I was happy and I think my client was too.

In the watercolor/architecture category is the house of a neighbor. I have loved this house since I set eyes on it, so painting it was just another opportunity to study it more.

I played with some oils too, a landscape from Flåm during our fjord tour.

And finally I played with acrylics. Forgetting how amazingly fast they are, my heart was racing a little when I started. It feels like the clock is ticking as soon as the paint is squirted out. Here are three progress shots:

Nice work. Keep carving out time.
All of the tree drawing practice from landscape architecture really paid off.
