Welp, I am falling off the artists’ wagon. For the first time, I missed some days. Two days to be exact. So I have some making up to do. But let’s not get discouraged quite yet. Here are this week’s paintings.
This is my redo from the painting last week that I hated sooooo much. The thing I love is the texture below the surface, but the color choice didn’t work very well. And I like the subject, but I didn’t think my brush strokes were confident enough.

Then there’s this one. I did it at a women’s event at church where I was instructed to “paint my prayers.” We used tempera paints, which were completely foreign to me, but I mixed them a with watercolor pencil dipped in the brush water and was happy with the end product.

This next scene is from the balcony of my bedroom. I love the subject, but strongly dislike the texture and color palette. This subject might have been better from the roof, but who wants to lug all that equipment up there?

This one is a scene from a garden in the Kasbah des Oudayas. I like the textures and colors in this one and was generally happy with how it turned out.

In the more abstract vein, I attempted this composition using only vertical lines. I like it ok, but it’s a bit boring. Maybe I could throw a few random horizontal lines in there to mix it up.
