I was crossing the street when I stepped on a piece of wood in the median. Looking down, the vague pattern on the slab caught my attention. It was partially worn along the edge and there was an elegant swath of contrast in the bottom left.

A diamond in the rough. An abstract in the trash pile. A monochrome in the median. You get the point.
Moving along, I made a mental note to take a closer look on the way back. But before returning, I had already begun to pine after it. I even had a good spot picked out for it in our house and was pondering how I might justify to my husband my desire to hang Moroccan trash on the wall.
When I finally returned to the median, I could see that my coveted piece of trash was actually a poster mounted on wood (whereas I initially thought it was weathered paint). An abstract maybe? The composition looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t place it.
…And then I turned it upside down. Or rightside up I should say. It was horses. Three horses. I loved it no less.
I still have some convincing to do in the husband department. His face said it all when I arrived home. But he should be used to this stuff by now, right?
I’m considering hanging it upside down, just like I found it. Thoughts? Trash or art?
